A well-trained employee is better prepared to do the work of the association and meet the needs of its program participants. To this end, all employees are required to meet certain training requirements.
Certifications needed for continued employment for all Hope Association DSP positions are CPR, First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Direct Support Professional (DSP). Certified Residential Medication Administrator (CRMA) is required for all residential staff and designated staff who provide community supports.
Hope Association administration places great value on the education and training of staff and has certified trainers on staff for CPR/FA, CPI and DSP certifications.

American Red Cross Adult CPR/First Aid
Participants receive certification in checking conscious and unconscious adult victims, administering rescue breathing, clearing obstructed airway, and one person CPR for adults. First Aid participants receive certification in treating minor injuries and sudden illnesses. Certification is good for one year. Price: $60.00 per person
Direct Support Professional (DSP)
The Direct Support Professional(DSP) curriculum is a 12 module, 47 hour, state mandated training established to cover areas essential for supporting individuals living with intellectual disabilities and Autism. Modules include:

Price: Complete Curriculum: $375 per person.
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
By participating in this program, you will gain the confidence necessary to handle crisis situations with minimal anxiety and maximum security. The training will help you intervene more safely when behaviors become dangerous. And most importantly, it won’t damage the professional bond you’ve worked so hard to establish with the individuals in your care.
