I am writing today as Mary’s guardian and spokesperson of her family. My skills at the computer are still limited and I want to “go on record” with these comments. December 4, approx. 5:10am, I received a call from the home manager saying she and staff felt Mary’s “flu like symptoms” had worsened and Mary should be seen at the hospital. I concurred. The Ambulance was called, the manager went to the home to await their arrival. I went to the ER to meet them there. We stayed in the ER room during blood work, EKG, and x-ray. This helped keep us as calm as possible in place. Mary was admitted to ICU with pneumonia. She was in ICU for 4 days and MED/SURG., then a swing for a few days. I spent many hours at bedside during her recovery and overheard many good compliments from ER and ICU nursing staff on the excellent care given at Hope Association. My family believes Mary has great care at her home and to hear it validated by nurses who recognize good skin integrity and who recognize how much effort and diligence it takes to maintain that integrity, filled me with such pride in your staff. Mary’s housemates said they missed her and to get better soon. Staff also came to visit and to offer helpful tips with her care. Mary is going back home today with some new directives as to food prep and I am sure staff will take this in their stirde as always. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Hope Association for their excellent care of our sister, and to the manager for her support to me and encouragement to Mary during this stressful time.

I relay like working with Fourth Street home. I enjoy making a difference in someone’s life and the bond that you create working in a home setting. The participants motivate me.

I have worked a variety of jobs from cashing to cleaning, but the most rewarding job that I have had is working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Hope Association. I don’t fret going to work, I love the fact that when people ask me how I like my job, that I can honestly tell them that I LOVE it. I take pride in what I can do for the individuals that I work with. Trying to make a difference in their life makes a very big impact on mine. I am appreciated for bringing passion and dedication to the team.

Working with Hope Association has opened me to so many avenues and opportunities for my child that I never knew existed. In just the short time that I was there I learned and gained so much knowledge and experience. Having a child with disabilities and working for a company like hope has opened me up to many more options that I ever was aware of and has made me a stronger advocate for my child. Hope is an amazing place. I look forward to working with them from a parent’s aspect in the future.

I who would like to thank both Catherine and Vickie for the invaluable information. Thank you for being so open and helpful. It is rare in this day and age of competition and turf protection. I hope we can continue to work together and always do what is needed for the individuals in our area! Thanks again.

It is genuinely wonderful to see an agency taking initiative to improve their systems and services to better the product for those we serve.

Just wanted to say thank you for the generous donation and I enjoy the opportunity to come down to have a picture taken with your staff and clients. What you and your folks do is phenomenal, I don’t know how else to put it. I think everyday, all year, year after year, truly special people working for and with special needs people is amazing. Again thanks for the generosity and for what you all do at Hope Association.
Greg Buccina, Rumford
Working with you is a pleasure, and a relationship I don’t always have with managers and supervisors. You always strive to have ‘what is required’ for reports, and then some. I so appreciate your attention to detail and time frames in getting planning done and reports completed. We can (and do) have a dialogs regarding: What DHHS needs – What I (as Case Manager) want to need & What you (as agency representative) think is important….and all respect where the other is coming from.
I do not question the quality of services that you all provide and know that your heart is in your work. The individuals you serve and their health, safety, and welfare, along with their personal growth, satisfaction and quality of life are your leading importance and driving force. And then there is the documentation that we and others demand…..just sayin’ Thanks.

I just wanted to pass along a conversation I had yesterday (March 2013) with a friend of the family who is usually at the pool when the group goes swimming on Thursdays.
This friend was very impressed with the way the staff interacts with the clients. She said that they let him greet her and her group without interference and that the staff is wonderful about letting him and others “do their own thing” in the pool. She was very impressed with how the staff is there to take care of any needs the clients may have, but they do not interfere with their fun. She notices a change in him since he has started at HOPE and is impressed.
I really wanted to let you know how positively your program is seen from the outside.
Have a great weekend and thank you for all you do for him and the family,
Terri Williams DHS

“I wanted to let you know that I love the new look of the newsletter! I love the addresses at the top and all the pictures. Having your website at the top allows readers to visit that for more information that may not be in the newsletter. You seem to be utilizing all your networking resources and that’s great.”

Brenda has seen other organizations on the West Coast with her step-son, William Espinoza, who was a client at Hope for five years. She says “I can be fair in saying that hands down, Hope Association far surpasses those groups in activities, personal involvement, and level of support and care given to each client. I am proud to be a member of the organization”.
